The Brief: to make the room feel more grand and formal.
We started with the wall colour. We chose this dramatic blue/grey to create a more dramatic space. The new curtains were positioned higher and wider to enhance the scale of the windows and ceiling. The sheer curtains allow sun to be blocked but don’t impede the view. The old fireplace had been blocked up so we installed a new gas log fire to add ambiance and meaning to the space.
This antique mirror adds history and increases the sense of space. This gorgeous flower arrangement adds life to the room with its greenery and adds height and scale to the table.
We scoured the antique shops for some lovely silver, glass and colour coordinated books to make the home feel lived in and give a sense of history and interest.
The stained and lumpy chairs were reupholstered. We chose a fabric with a high Martindale score, dark colour and pattern to hide food and red wine stains. New padding to make them look and feel great.
