The Brief: To create a sense of grandeur to this room and make it flow with the rest of the house. The clients wanted to keep the floral couches.
New carpet was laid that flowed seamlessly into the hallway (was previously a different carpet in every room). The same paint colour and curtains that we used in the dining room was repeated in here to create flow and continuity between the two areas.
The shelving was practical but had large gaps between the shelves and the wall so felt like a cheap add on. We filled all of the gaps to make the shelving look much more solid and bespoke. We then found lots of little antique treasures and books to dress the shelves. A gas log fireplace was used to replace an old gas heater which creates a cosy feel. A coffee table that has been used in another space was put here to keep costs down.
We squared off the furniture rather than its previous position to add more space. This artwork was already in the house and we rehung it here; nice and low and easy to view. Some new and old glass wear and the bar is fully stocked and ready to enjoy!
