Painting timber, or not painting timer. That is the universal question. People are usually VERY pro or VERY con on both ends of the spectrum of this topic. We had inherited a Tasmanian Oak kitchen (technically its actually Eucalyptus) that was lorded over in the 1980's as a premium and expensive cupboard option. We almost removed this Crepe Myrtle a few years ba We almost removed this Crepe Myrtle a few years back. It hadn’t flowered in decades. Decades! Instead, we removed a large Cypress Pine that was overshadowing it, gave it more water, a prune, et voilà! Each year the colour seems to get more vibrant and the flowering more prolific. And now one of my favourite trees in the garden. I love this time of year!
I have recently been working on a kitchen/pantry l I have recently been working on a kitchen/pantry layout and design for a client. She started building her dream home over five years ago and the overwhelming decision making and lack of time had ground all progress to a halt. It made me reflect on our renovation experience, and the enormous amount of decisions/planning/ time/hard work/management/budgeting that go into building a bespoke space, particularly with heritage requirements. It’s certainly not for the faint of heart, but truly worthwhile. Five years on from our internal renovations I love the layers that keep evolving and the more personal the space has become over time.
A few years ago, this area was just a paddock adja A few years ago, this area was just a paddock adjacent to our garden with our chook shed that was routinely grazed by the passing cows or sheep. When we started focusing on a new landscaping plan for the garden, we decided to include this area, clad the old shed in recycled fence palings and added some hardy planting (as it would not be getting watered, once established). This is now one of my favourite area of the garden. I love the way it highlights and celebrates these great old sheds and buildings, showing landscaping can hero utilitarian spaces.
Good morning Willeroo. Good morning Willeroo.
A progress shot of the garden with just over two y A progress shot of the garden with just over two years of growth. This summer has been very hot and dry, so keeping everything alive and thriving has definitely been a challenge. Can’t wait to see these hedges thicken up.
A gorgeous sunset over Lake George NSW last night A gorgeous sunset over Lake George NSW last night following a horrific hail storm. Why does it seem the most beautiful sunsets come after crazy weather? Happy to have Henry back at the helm of his precious drone after the last one met its untimely end following a run in with the house chimney. #dji #djiair3s
