Kitchen Cabinet Makeover

April 12, 2017 willeroo

Painting timber, or not painting timer. That is the universal question. People are usually VERY pro or VERY con on both ends of the spectrum of this topic. We had inherited a Tasmanian Oak kitchen (technically its actually Eucalyptus) that was lorded over in the 1980's as a premium and expensive cupboard option. But lets… Continue reading Kitchen Cabinet Makeover

Summer ready! Summer ready!
This bed was planted two years ago and starting to This bed was planted two years ago and starting to look just how I had envisioned it. Hopefully by the end of this growing season all of the hedges will have filled out.

Back row- Box Leaved/leaf Privet (Ligustrum Undulatum). A super hardy and compact medium hedge and noninvasive form. We have a lot of 100+ year old privet hedges and they seem to thrive in this climate.

Middle row- Iceberg Roses. You can’t beat an Iceberg. Old school. Classic. Continual flowering through the hot months when this pool area is in full swing.

Front row- Japanese Box (Buxus Microphylla). They seem to survive the severe frosts and hot summers here where my English Box have died.
After loving the quality and ease of install of th After loving the quality and ease of install of the Blinds Online Roman blinds in our Poolhouse bathroom, we decided to go with them again for the main area. We went with the Grande Stripe Linen blockout.

It’s a subtle neutral but the stripe gives just that bit of interest. Being able to order 20 free samples is a great way to see and touch the fabric before taking the plunge. The William Morris collection is also a fave and what we chose for the bathroom last year.

We used the Click 2 Fit system which is really easy to install and the electric opening blinds with remote. This is our third set of electric blinds and I would recommend spending the extra for the electric opening. They are the best!

You can program the blinds to open individually or independently and in my experience it means you actually open and close them way more. I also think it lengthens the life of the blinds as sometimes kids/people yank on the cord the wrong way and damage the mechanism. You charge up the blinds by plugging them into power which lasts 6-9 months depending on the amount of use.

For above our bifold door we didn’t have the space to hang a Roman, so we went with a more concealed roller blind in a white to match our door. You can’t even notice it’s there when it’s up. And bonus- it’s basically a big screen so we have been using it with our projector for movie nights. The kids are going to love it at Christmas!

I love the way the mood lighting highlights the plants at night and provides depth and interest.

I’m really looking forward to using this space during the Christmas holidays with friends and family. The flat area of lawn is really utilised, particularly by the kids, and now the craziness can extend past the daylight hours.
I don’t understand the Instagram algorithm, but I don’t understand the Instagram algorithm, but for some reason there seems to be quite a few new followers. Welcome!

This is a bit of a snapshot into our lives over the past five years. Living and breathing renovations and landscaping at our home in rural NSW.

And because we have no lives and are gluttons for punishment, we are in the planning stage for our next project. This next one will be a big challenge but we are looking forward to saving our beautiful heritage Stables.

A bit of excitement here at Willeroo this morning. A bit of excitement here at Willeroo this morning.
This gorgeous old building used to house all the m This gorgeous old building used to house all the milking cows and would supply gallons of milk to all of the people who used to work at Willeroo Station.

Of course, all of the staff have long gone and our milk comes from Woolies, but we wanted to give this old girl a fresh look.

After patching a significant amount of cracks, things were looking pretty unsightly. So we decided to freshen up the original limewash.

We just mixed a 50:50 lime and water mix and applied with a large brush. Gloves and mask a must. Wetting down the walls prior in patches also helped with the application.

Thank you to Meg @thetempesthouse for the inspo.
